Melbourne Shuffle Guide helps people learn and enjoy the Melbourne shuffle, the rave dance that grew out of Melbourne's club scene. We publish guides to learning the steps, including the running man, the T-step and kicks, spins and transitions, and building a routine; to the culture, including the dance's history, music and tempo, dancing at festivals and clubs, and filming and sharing videos; and to practice, including warming up, shoes and floors, protecting your hearing and practising at home. Our tempo trainer helps you measure a track's BPM and practise from slow to full speed.
Why we exist
Shuffle tutorials are scattered across short videos that rarely explain the basics, the history or how to look after your body and ears. We want dancers to have a clear, friendly place to start.

We write every guide in our own words. For history we rely on published accounts, and for health, safety and copyright we rely on authoritative sources such as Hearing Australia's Know Your Noise, the US National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, healthdirect, Physical Activity Australia, the Arts Law Centre of Australia, APRA AMCOS and EPA Victoria. We list our sources on each page. We never invent statistics, quotes or testimonials, and we don't rank dancers, crews, venues or events.
